LOORE- Member Feedback and Residencies Overview (1/2022- 8/2025)

In September and October, we surveyed our members about their activities and also asked them for feedback on LOORE’s operations. This was done to better understand how residencies function, what is important to them, and what value members see in the network—whether they perceive any benefit from LOORE as an organization.

The survey was conducted as an online questionnaire and was open for responses in September and October 2025. The questionnaire was divided into three parts: general information about the respondents, information about the activities of the residencies, and members’ assessment of LOORE’s activities. Despite the survey being long and detailed, nearly 90% of the association’s members responded (16 out of 18 members).

What will we do with the information gathered from the survey? We now have both qualitative and quantitative data that can be used to improve LOORE’s work, support creative residencies, and inform policy-making. The survey responses also provided valuable input for the development of LOORE’s strategy for 2026–2029.

6 facts from the survey:

1. In total, during the period under review (Jan 2022 – Aug 2025), 830 creatives participated in residencies.

2. The average duration of a residency period is 2 weeks to 1 month.

3. The largest number of residents are in the field of visual arts.

4. Residencies primarily fund their activities through their own generated income and fee-based residencies. Support from the Estonian Cultural Endowment for projects is also significant.

5. LOORE members are generally satisfied with the umbrella organization’s activities (4.4 out of 5 points).

6. The main benefits members see in LOORE are networking opportunities, access to best practices, and the chance to participate in joint projects, such as the Ukraine residencies and the Baltic Nordic Residency Forum.
