The network brings together artists in residencies networks from Estonia, Finland and Sweden. Residency networks LOORE, FAIRE and SWAN aim to build up a long-term network and involve other Baltic and Nordic residency networks in it. LOORE includes 17 residency organizers across Estonia, FAIRE 70 residencies in Finland and SWAN encompasses 130 members/residencies in Sweden.
The project aims to achieve a dual goal: to assist Estonian, Finnish, and Swedish networks of creative residencies in developing sustainable organizational work models and to establish a collaboration platform for organizers of artist-in-residence programs in these countries, promoting the sharing of best practices, facilitating exchanges, and stimulating collaborations within the Nordic-Baltic region.
The network was initiated by LOORE already in the fall of 2023, and representatives of the FAIRE and SWAN networks contributed to its development. At the end of May, beginning of June 2024, FAIRE hosted in person meeting of partners in Finland. Baltic-Nordic Residency Forum was introduced at FAIRE annual meeting at Saari Residence. On June 1st a kick-off meeting of the project was held at Turun Taidehalli.
Baltic-Nordic Residency Forum has received a grant from Short-term network funding from the Nordic Culture Point to establish a project. The funding from Nordic Culture Point enables partners to carry on the following activities: 3 online meetings, 3 online workshops, 3 visits to annual network meetings in each country. Activities will take place from April 22nd 2024 to January 31st 2025.
June 1st 2024 in front of Turun Taidehalli. Representatives of FAIRE, SWAN and LOORE are all happy after a successful kick-off meeting of the network.
